Binance Proof of Address Rejected: Check the Document and Details
For people asked to provide proof of address: check the document type, issue date, name, address and readability one by one.
This guide is for people Binance has actually asked for proof of address. If your verification page or notices haven't requested it, you don't need one. Go back to how to complete identity verification and follow what the page asks.
Keep the rejection notice, then check document type, issue date, name, address and readability. Start with the item named in the notice. If no reason is given, work through those checks before sending another file.
The requirements below come from Binance's How to Verify My Residential Address on Binance? (Applicable to All Users), whose document, format and date requirements we rechecked in English and Chinese on 20 September 2026. That article also says accepted documents and date limits vary by country or region. What follows are the general rules; for your country's specifics, go by Binance's page.
Check you were asked for it
Open Account > Identification on the website or the verification page in the app, and confirm:
- the page or a notice asks for proof of address, or you're going through [Get Verified Plus]; and
- what was rejected is the proof of address, not your ID. For an ID rejection, see ID document upload failed or rejected.
Write down the rejection reason exactly as given. You'll need it below.
What a valid proof of address shows
- Name
Must be the same as on the ID you submitted
- Address
Must be the same as the residential address you entered, and complete: flat or house number, street and postcode
- Date of issue
Must be shown and meet the applicable country and document limit; see how to check the date
- Issuer
The issuing organisation, with something identifying it such as a logo, contact details or website

Before submitting: check that the required details are present and match your information and ID. Passing this checklist does not establish approval; the review result does.
Paper, PDF or screenshot?
- If you have an e-statement PDF: upload the original PDF. It's usually clearer than a photo, with no glare or cropping, and PDF is an accepted format.
- A paper bill: lay it flat in even light and shoot in portrait with the whole first page in frame, all four corners visible and the text readable when zoomed. For a multi-page bill, keep the whole first page and provide the pages containing the required information as instructed. Do not crop away necessary details to fit everything onto one page.
- A screenshot from online banking or an app: Binance says screenshots can be acceptable if they meet the requirements, but they often capture only part of the page. Check that it shows the actual document, with the first page and required information visible. An account overview or balance screen does not become a full statement just because it has a bank logo. Prefer the original PDF when available, and do not assemble pieces from different documents into one image.
- Photocopies: not accepted.
Open the actual file you plan to submit and enlarge the name, address, date and issuer details. For a photograph or screenshot, keep the colour and all four corners, with no glare or missing content; Binance’s guidance excludes black-and-white scans or screenshots. When the original e-statement PDF is available, prefer that file and check its pages for the required information.
Match the rejection reason

We've grouped these by type of problem; this isn't Binance's own list. If your reason isn't here, follow its wording, and ask support if it's unclear.
What counts and what doesn't
Types Binance lists as acceptable (if they meet the requirements above)
- Utility and service bills: electricity, water or sewerage bills; internet, landline or TV package bills;
- Financial institution documents: bank statements, credit card statements (not retail store cards), investment account statements, mortgage statements and similar;
- Government documents: official letters, residence certificates, and a national ID card or permanent residence permit showing your address (not the same one used for identity verification);
- Other: building management statements, home insurance and qualifying university housing records. Tenancy documents have issuer or authority-confirmation conditions; see if you only have a rental contract.
Not accepted
- payslips and transaction receipts;
- preliminary statements and marketing material;
- standalone mobile phone bills (with some regional exceptions);
- medical bills;
- documents showing only a P.O. box without a residential address; virtual-office or mail-forwarding addresses.
The lists distinguish a general transaction receipt from a bank-issued transfer receipt. Binance includes the latter among financial-institution documents while listing general transaction receipts as unacceptable. Check the issuer and document type, then the required name, full residential address, date and local acceptance rules. A record containing only a transfer amount and a recipient does not establish your own residential address.
Accepted documents differ between countries, so this general list doesn't mean every item is accepted where you live.
Don't edit a bill's name or address, use a family member's or landlord's bill as your own, or buy a "proof of address" online. The material you submit must accurately represent your own name and residence. If you genuinely can't get a valid document in your own name, find out what you can obtain locally (a bank statement or a government residence certificate, for example), or ask Binance support.
How recent must the document be?
Find the issue date, then check the limit for your residence and document type. The date you download or photograph a bill, and the date payment is due, are different. Downloading an old statement today does not turn it into a newly issued document.
As checked on 20 September 2026, the linked Binance guide lists different periods: examples include two months for India, three for Australia and Italy, and six for France. Some documents have specific validity provisions. These examples show why the limits differ; they are not a complete country list. Read your current verification requirements and the relevant country and document entries in the official table.
If the rejection says the document is too old, compare its issue date, your submission date and the applicable limit. If a date is unlabeled or no issue date appears, ask the issuer what it means or request a suitable document. Do not add a date yourself. After changing your address with a bank, reopen the actual statement: a previously issued statement may still show the old address.
What if no utility bill is in your name?
Start with documents you already have that show your own name and current residence. Compare their types with the list your verification accepts. If obtaining a replacement would cost money, confirm the required type and details with official support before paying for it.
You live with family, or your landlord pays the bills
A bill addressed only to a parent or landlord is not a document issued in your name. Check whether a bank statement or government residence document of your own shows the current address, issue date and issuer, and is accepted in your flow. A balance screenshot with a name and numbers but no residential address still does not establish where you live.
If all the bills are in somebody else's name, describe that arrangement to support. Ask which documents in your name, or which additional materials, are accepted locally. Do not change the name on the bill. Do not assume that adding proof of a family relationship will make the application acceptable; ask about the requirements before submitting unrelated personal documents.
You only have a tenancy agreement
Check who issued or confirmed it. Binance's list specifies government-issued or housing-authority-confirmed tenancy or registration documents, alongside certain university housing records. That is narrower than saying any rental contract is accepted. A private agreement between you and a landlord needs checking against the applicable requirements. Adding a stamp yourself cannot supply an authority's confirmation.
When asking support about a contract, identify the document type and issuing body first. You do not need to send every page to this site's editors or post the agreement publicly. If an official submission is requested, follow the document instructions given for that submission.
You live in student housing or have recently moved
A student can check whether the university provides a housing agreement or a letter confirming attendance and the current residential address of the kind listed by Binance. Check the name, housing address, issue date and university details. A student ID card alone may not contain the required address information.
If you have moved and no new bill has arrived, check whether the bank or relevant authority has updated your address and when it can issue a document showing it. Changing the Binance address back to somewhere you no longer live does not prove your current residence. Keep the request and ask support which available documents meet it.
Resubmitting and waiting
If the address you entered was wrong
If the document is fine but the residential address you entered is wrong or incomplete, fix the entered address. Binance's How to Update My Residential Address on Binance describes signing in, scrolling down the verification page to Edit Address, choosing the country, entering the address and uploading proof of address.
That official guide describes the website update route; it does not establish that every review status has an Edit button. Follow an available correction or resubmission option. If it is missing or the material is still under review, ask official support how to correct it. Moving to another country or region may require identity verification again.
After you submit
Binance gives a reference of 1–2 working days, not an approval countdown; weekends and applicable holidays affect working-day calculations. First confirm that the page shows submission or review. If it asks for additional material, respond to that request. Avoid duplicate uploads when the application is simply awaiting review. If it exceeds the reference time without a result, see still under review.
Resolved when: the verification page shows your proof of address approved, or Verified Plus as complete.
If it keeps getting rejected
If you've changed the document or corrected the address and the same reason keeps coming back, or no reason is given, stop working through bills one by one.
Hand it over to Binance support. Open the chat in the Support Center and say up front that your proof of address keeps being rejected; if the bot's answers miss the point, follow [Unresolved], then [Not relevant] if needed, and choose the transfer to an agent (steps in How to Use Binance Support). Tell them:
- your country or region of residence, and the document types and issue months you've submitted;
- each rejection reason, word for word;
- what you checked (name, address, date, completeness);
- anything unusual about your name or address, such as a shared house, a recent move or an unusual address format.
Only submit the document itself through Binance's verification page or as support directs in an official channel. In any screenshot you share with others, cover account numbers, amounts and your full address.
Do you need it, and what if the details are wrong?
Does every new user need proof of address?
Go by your verification page and notices. Binance treats proof of address as part of identity verification, used to meet your country or region's regulations, and it's reached through [Get Verified Plus]. If you haven't been asked, you don't need to submit one.
What should I check if the name or address does not match?
Identify whether you entered something wrongly, the document lacks information, or a name or address format needs explaining. Correct entered information through the available option; ask official support if none is shown. For a document error, ask the issuer or obtain suitable material. Do not edit the original yourself.
