Identity verification
Binance ID Document Upload Failed or Rejected: What to Check
A photo that won't upload and a document rejected after review are different problems with different fixes. Both are covered here.
Upload failed or rejected after review?
Check whether the problem appears while selecting or uploading an image, or in a result notice, then choose the relevant checks:
- The upload failed: you picked or took a photo on the verification page and it wasn't accepted. It spins, shows an error, or the flow won't move past the upload step. A loading indicator or error cannot establish whether earlier work was recorded. Keep the message and inspect the current status. Go to the photo won't upload.
- Rejected after review: you submitted the whole application and later got a notice that your document wasn't approved. Use the named document condition, image-quality check or details comparison, rather than changing everything from the start.
"ID document" here means an identity document such as an ID card, passport or driver's licence. A rejected proof of address (a bill or bank statement) is a different matter: see proof of address rejected.
The photo won't upload
Binance's personal verification instructions describe device upload and a phone connection by QR code, but specifically say manual upload availability depends on the country. We checked this upload guidance in September 2026. Use only a method offered in your current flow, and provide the sides or pages it requests for your chosen document.

The file chooser or camera does not open
Read whether the button says Upload or Take Photo. Upload opens a file list or photo library; Take Photo needs the camera. For a flow that requests a live picture, have the original document ready and open the camera. If a gallery option is offered, locate the photograph you already took. The button tells you whether to check file access or camera permission next.
For a camera that does not open, check the app or browser currently running the step and any site-specific camera permission. The camera permission checks explain that distinction. If a file chooser opens but a picture is missing, inspect the selected folder or the photos made available to that app. A missing picture is not, by itself, a reason to enable access to your entire library.
You can choose a file, but it is rejected immediately
Read the exact error before selecting another picture. If the page specifies a file type or size, compare it with the actual file's information. Renaming the extension does not convert the contents. Use a permitted export or capture method that preserves the document's details; do not send an ID to an unknown online converter.
Before selecting an image, open that file on your own device. Check that it shows the valid document you intend to use, with the correct name, document type and side. Compare previews when file names are similar. If the picture is only in a cloud library, download it normally to a device you control before selecting it. Check the resulting preview on the verification page as well.
If no file limit or format is specified, do not guess a universal megabyte limit or repeatedly compress the image. Ask for the requirement when the error does not explain it. Reducing quality can make small text unreadable even if a smaller file is accepted by the form.
The preview appears, but Continue is unavailable
Look at every required image slot. For a flow asking for two sides, check that both are present and that the reverse is not another copy of the front. Read any warning below the preview and finish any review or confirmation the page requests. A visible thumbnail may appear before the upload or checking step has finished.
If Replace or Retake is available, use the control beside the incorrect image. Return to this application and check the new preview: has the glare or missing edge been corrected, and is each side in its matching slot? Once every required image is correct, look for permission to continue. If you selected a file in another tab, return to the current application and check which image it actually shows.
It keeps loading or the connection is interrupted
Wait for the current operation to finish or produce an error before changing the page. Binance advises against refreshing during verification. If it remains stuck, record whether the interruption happened before a preview, after one side, or after pressing Continue. That tells support more than saying only that upload failed.
When the current flow offers a QR handoff, you can follow its instructions to continue on your phone. Confirm that the phone is continuing the intended account's request. If the QR code has expired, use the current page's renewal option if available; do not reuse a saved code from an earlier attempt or share it for someone else to complete.
A stable permitted connection or another supported method can be a useful comparison after an error, but repeated refreshes may interrupt the work again. If you return later, inspect the current verification details before starting over. A loading problem alone cannot tell you whether an earlier step or submission was recorded.
When the intended images are accepted and the page lets you continue, proceed with the next requested step. Overall approval still comes from the verification result.
If no offered method works, keep the error, device and OS version, website or app, and the last visible step. Use the support notes below; do not repeatedly send the same file without a useful change.
Rejected after review: work from the reason
Reason 1: the document isn't accepted
For a notice about document type, validity or ownership, compare the actual selection, uploaded file and original before changing the camera angle.
- The type isn't on the list. Binance lists passports, ID cards and driver's licences, with options varying by country. Your list is what appears after you choose the issuing country or region.
- Your selections don't match the document. For example, you hold a passport but chose ID card, or selected your country of residence as the issuing country. See country of residence, issuing country and name.
- It is actually expired. Use your own valid document accepted by the current flow. If the original has not expired, check whether you selected an older photograph.
- Original and capture method. When the page requires the original or live capture, do not substitute a photograph of a photocopy, screen or printed scan. Check separately whether manual upload is offered.
- It isn't yours. There's no workaround for this. Only your own document will do.
Sorted when: you're holding your own valid original, and its type and issuing country match what you selected.
Reason 2: the photo isn't readable
Move back until every edge is in frame.
Change the light or angle; inspect that area again.
Enlarge the preview to check names, dates and numbers.
For a notice mentioning blur, cropping, glare or unreadable details, compare the original with the selected image, then adjust the relevant capture conditions:
| Check | How |
|---|---|
| All four edges visible | The whole document in frame, every corner showing, nothing cropped |
| No glare | Adjust the light or angle; remove a separate removable sleeve if needed, never the document's own laminate or security layer |
| In focus | If the capture screen supports it, tap to focus and hold steady; inspect the text in the available preview |
| Nothing covering it | Fingers off the document, and don't cover any field |
| Both sides | Provide the sides or pages requested for the selected document, checking each preview |
| Plain background | A plain surface that contrasts with the card |
Tips for each type of document:
- Passport: photograph the page with your photo and personal details, flat and complete. The printed letters and symbols at the bottom shouldn't be covered by fingers or the cover. Pages curve near the spine and catch light, so support the edges without covering information or damaging the document.
- ID card: where both sides are requested, supply them separately in their corresponding slots rather than combining them in one image. Security laminates reflect light, so tilt slightly to move any bright spot off the text, then check nothing is washed out.
- Driver's licence: upload whichever sides the page asks for. Details can be tiny, so zoom in afterwards to check your date of birth and licence number are sharp.
First inspect the whole picture for missing edges or pages, then read the name, date of birth, number and expiry date. If local upload is available, enlarge the file on your device. For live capture, use the preview the process provides. If an area is still blurred or washed out, adjust the light or distance, retake that side and inspect the same area again.
Two things not to do: don't edit the photo in any app, including brightening it until security features disappear; and don't cover your ID number or photo for privacy. The document you submit to Binance must be fully readable. Covering details is only for screenshots you show to other people.
Once the photograph is readable, continue checking document type, validity and the details you entered. If the notice names an unsupported type or a name mismatch, address that requirement directly. Further changes to the lighting or angle will not resolve that particular problem.
Check the original as well as the photograph
Find the field named in the notice on your original document, then open the submitted image at the same place. If the original is readable but the photograph is blurred, retake it. If the original itself is worn beyond readability, check which other valid documents the current process accepts. With no suitable replacement available, ask the issuing authority about renewal and explain the situation to Binance.
For an expiry notice, first check whether the preview shows an old document photograph. Read the expiry date on the original, keeping it separate from the issue date, and check the document’s date format. If you submitted the current, unexpired document, keep the error text and submission time and ask official support to review that material. Leave the date printed on the document unchanged.
Adjust the specific problem area. Move the light or camera angle when glare hides the number. Reframe the whole document when a corner is missing. Hold the device steady and refocus when small text near an edge is blurred. Inspect that same area after taking the new picture, then replace the old image once the adjustment has made the information readable.
Reason 3: details don't match
When a notice identifies a name, its order or a date of birth, compare the entered value, selected document and field instructions. Do not guess how to rewrite different scripts or name order. Correct an input error through an allowed route. If a name has legally changed or the file is outdated, establish which current document is needed; do not enter false information merely to make the two match.
- Before you confirm your details: correct them to match the document.
- After confirmation or locking: check for a correction route applicable to this request, or ask official support. Updating an already verified identity differs from correcting a first application; see correction, update and appeal.
If the reason says the document or identity is already used on another account, start with the account-ownership issue. See ID already used by another account.
The same reason keeps coming back
First establish that it is a new result for this submission. Compare the application time, document description and current preview to confirm the intended replacement went into the affected slot. Without a new result, an old email or page should not be counted as another failed attempt.
If the same reason really returned after the requested correction, keep what changed and ask official support what is still missing. For example, explain that glare previously covered the upper-right area, that the replacement shows it clearly, and that the new notice still says the number is unreadable. Ask which submitted image is being assessed. You do not need to expose the number in a public post to explain this.
Open chat through the confirmed Help Center. If automated answers remain irrelevant, follow the Unresolved, Not relevant or customer-service choices described in Binance's support instructions. Account checks may require sign-in; an immediate transfer is not guaranteed. Start with:
- document type and issuing country, without the full number;
- the exact error and whether it appeared at file selection, upload, Continue or review;
- approximate submission time and time zone, and the change actually made;
- website or app, device and OS version, and whether the replacement preview is visible.
If no document is named in the notice, use the unclear-rejection checks instead of assuming it concerns the photograph. If the file appears to meet the stated condition and you believe the decision is wrong, ask whether review is the appropriate route rather than substituting unrelated material.
Provide original ID images only through a verified official verification or appeal entry when requested. Redact personal details from screenshots shared to explain a fault; keep documents supplied for verification complete as the flow requires. A stranger offering private document review cannot decide what Binance will accept.
What to check after an image is accepted
Why can an uploaded ID still be rejected?
An accepted image or a move to the next step does not mean overall identity verification passed. Document type, validity, personal details and readability still need to meet the requirements. Read the result for the relevant application to see which condition was not met.
What should I check if entered details do not match the ID?
Compare the field requirement, entered value and valid document to determine whether this is an input error, a wrong file or changed information. Use an applicable edit or official correction route, or ask for help if none is available. Do not alter the document image or enter false details just to create an apparent match.
