Identity verification

Binance Face Verification Failed: Camera, Liveness Check or Result

Camera won't open, the check won't finish, or it failed afterwards: check permissions, capture conditions or the review result.

Start with what you can see. For a black preview, check the camera and its permissions. For a live picture with an unfinished prompt, check the instruction and capture conditions. For a failure notice after submission, open the verification details and read the reason. Choose the matching row below before changing a setting or repeating the scan.

When did it fail?

Once you can see yourself, complete the movement shown on screen. When the next screen appears, follow its request to confirm details or submit. Then check the status in your identity-verification details. These are separate checks: opening the camera, completing the capture and receiving the review result.

The camera won't open

Open the device’s normal camera app and check the camera you intend to use. If it works, close that app and return to Binance to check the permissions below. If neither view works, inspect the device’s camera settings or restart the device, and note the message in each app. Give support those observations so they can investigate the specific error.

Which app is using the camera? For capture inside the Binance app, check its camera permission. For capture on the website, check browser and website camera permissions. In the Binance appOn the websiteCheck appcamera accessCheck browserand site access
Permission-check diagram. Identify the app showing the capture window, then follow its settings instructions below.

Allow the app that is actually showing the check

If you are in the Binance app, inspect its permission. If you are on the website, inspect the browser's permission as well as the website's camera setting. Allowing the Binance app will not change a browser's own permission. Check the app name at the top of the settings page before changing anything.

  • iPhone: open Settings, Privacy & Security, then Camera. Find the app you are using and allow it. Apple's camera-access instructions explain that this list shows apps that have requested permission.
  • Android: open Settings, Apps, select the relevant app, then Permissions and Camera. Follow the available permission options. Google's Android permission guide also describes device-wide camera access under privacy controls; menu names and available controls vary.

If you cannot find the app in the permission list, return to the official verification flow and reach the camera step. Look for a permission request, then check the settings again. If no request appears, confirm which app actually owns the capture window and keep any message on the empty screen. If that window is a browser, continue with the website-permission checks below.

After changing the permission, return to the verification page and look for a live picture that responds as you move. Follow any request to restart the app or browser. When you reopen the same account, read its current request: continue capture if it is unfinished, or follow the new instructions if it now asks you to confirm details or wait for a result.

Check website permission and the selected camera

For desktop Chrome, go through Settings, Privacy and security, Site settings, then Camera. Inspect the permission for the current official site. If more than one camera is listed, select the physical camera you intend to use. Google's Chrome camera guide explains both controls. Keep the verification tab in front while using it.

A laptop may offer its built-in camera, an external webcam or a virtual camera installed by another program. A preview of an empty scene, a frozen image or a camera that is no longer connected calls for checking that selection. Choosing a different camera is useful only if the new preview is live and shows you clearly.

Close other programs using the camera. Look for a physical privacy cover or camera switch on the device. If an external camera is disconnected, reconnect it and inspect the available camera list again. Do not change unrelated security settings to try to make a black preview disappear.

The browser is allowed, but the operating system blocks it

On Windows 11, check Settings, Privacy & security, Camera. Microsoft distinguishes app access from desktop-app camera access, which includes browsers; a browser may not appear as an individual switch. On a Mac, check System Settings, Privacy & Security, Camera for the browser or app, following Apple's camera settings.

If a switch is greyed out or marked as managed by your workplace or school, record which setting you cannot change and ask the device administrator. You can also continue the same account’s verification on a permitted personal device. Describe the device restriction separately from any verification notice so the person helping can identify which part needs attention.

What this check establishes: a moving preview shows that this page can receive a camera image at that moment. It does not confirm that a face scan has been accepted. If it stays black after the relevant checks, note the device, selected camera and error for support. To move to another device, follow the same-account continuation instructions.

You can see yourself, but the check won't finish

Binance's How to Complete Identity Verification for a Personal Account says: don't wear a hat or glasses, don't use filters, and make sure the lighting is good. In the app, keep your whole face centred and clearly visible. These capture requirements were checked against that personal-verification guide in September 2026.

Go through each of these:

CheckAdjust
LightFace the light source rather than sitting with a window or lamp behind you; avoid a shadow across half your face
Anything covering your faceRemove hats, glasses and masks; keep hair away from your eyes and the outline of your face
FiltersTurn off beauty modes, virtual backgrounds and filters in your phone or webcam software
PositionWhole face inside the frame and centred; hold the phone steady at about eye level
LensWipe the front camera
MovementsRead each prompt before acting, move slowly, and stay in frame until it finishes

The last few rows draw on tips from another Binance article, What is Face Verification and How to Complete It Successfully?, such as avoiding backlight and shadows, a plain background, a clean lens, holding the device at eye level, and turning your head slowly or blinking when asked. That article is about face checks after you're verified, when signing in or withdrawing, not identity verification itself, we use its lighting and framing tips as checks, without treating its login flow or result as the process for a first identity application.

Fixed when: the prompts finish and the flow moves to the next step.

The account holder must complete the live capture. Do not substitute a photograph, video, another person or software that alters the live image.

Before trying another face scan

Use the visible problem to choose one adjustment. If the picture is dark, change the light before repeating the movement. If the picture is clear but the instruction stays on screen, read the exact instruction and check whether your face leaves the frame while doing it. A fresh attempt with no change gives you little new information.

The preview freezes while you move

Check whether the image responds when you change position. A still image is different from a live image that the page has not accepted. Close any other camera app you opened for testing and return to the verification tab. If the view remains frozen, use the camera checks above before adjusting your face position repeatedly.

If the picture is live but a connection error appears, keep the complete error and the time it happened. Wait for an active submission to show a result, then open the same account’s verification status. Continue capture if requested, check notices if it is under review, or follow an explicit resubmission request. Use that status to decide what to do next.

The prompt is difficult to read or perform

Read the entire instruction before starting the movement. Perform the requested action and watch whether the prompt changes or the next screen appears. Follow the order and any repetition count on your own screen. If a sentence is unclear, give its exact wording to official support and clarify what it means before continuing; somebody else’s video may show a different instruction.

If a movement, posture or request to remove an item is not possible for you, tell official support which instruction you cannot complete and ask what options apply. You do not need to send this site a medical explanation. Another person should not perform the scan for you, and an alternative method should not be assumed available until Binance confirms it.

Record the result of the adjustment

For example: “The preview was black; allowing camera access made it live, but the next screen says…” or “The picture stays live; the same instruction remains after I follow it.”

Keep the latest error and the stage where it appeared. If the page now asks for document details instead of a face scan, continue with that requested step; do not repeat the scan just because the entire identity application is not yet approved. Follow any retry countdown or instruction to contact support. The result checks below help distinguish a capture problem from a later request.

You finished, and it still failed

Open the same account’s verification details and read the latest status and notice. If the face-scan entry appears again, read the explanation beside it: does it ask you to finish an incomplete capture, resubmit, or complete an additional check? Use that request to choose the relevant response below. If there is no explanation, describe the current screen and your earlier notice to support together.

  • An error or no result during submission: keep the wording and check whether the page now shows a review, a continuation or a resubmission request. Repeat a step only when the current flow asks for and allows it.
  • A definite rejection: read whether it names the face check, the document or personal information. Address that reason instead of treating every rejection as a lighting problem.
  • Still under review: use the pending-verification guide. Respond separately if there is a new request for material.

Binance's account-use face-verification article lists a significant difference between the live face and ID photo as a possible cause. That does not identify a beard, hairstyle or old photograph as the cause of your first identity application failing. Check that the intended document is yours, that the preview is correct, and whether the notice actually requests a replacement.

If a replacement is needed, use your own valid document from the current flow's accepted options, through the available replacement or resubmission route. A newer passport is not automatically an available option or a guarantee of approval. For unclear reasons, missing edit options or information mismatches, use the verification-failure checks and ask official support what needs changing.

Phone unlock and the identity camera check

A system Face ID or fingerprint prompt may be unlocking the device or confirming a sign-in. The identity-capture step opens a camera view with framing or movement instructions. Read where the prompt appears and what it asks you to complete.

After unlocking the phone, return to Binance and check the identity-verification page. For a black capture preview, use the camera-permission checks in this guide. If a device-unlock or account-sign-in prompt is still open, deal with that prompt first, then return to the verification step. Use the result in your verification details to judge the review status.

When to stop

Stop repeating the capture when the relevant checks make no difference or the page asks you to wait or contact support. Attempt limits can differ by verification flow; use the notice on your account. You can ask for help without a spare device, and do not need to keep trying until a limit appears.

Binance support instructions showing where to open support on the website and app.
If camera and permission checks do not resolve the problem, use the support entry shown here. Public help page, September 2026.

If you are signed in, open support from the Binance page and explain which face-check step failed. If you cannot sign in, use Binance’s visitor-support instructions. Our steps for contacting support without signing in explain the entry and transfer options. Prepare these details:

  • which of the three moments it fails at;
  • website or app, device model and OS version;
  • the exact on-screen message or notice, with time and time zone;
  • what you've already adjusted (permissions, lighting, device and so on).

Describe the problem with its error and step first. If Binance requests identity or face material, use the verified official verification or appeal entry point. Do not send it to an unfamiliar private-chat account. This site does not accept that material.
